Finderscopes and Zero-Magnification Finders |
| A good finderscope is a key factor for successful (and consequently: joyful) observations. Quite often telescopes are sold with cheap, underperforming finderscopes for which the name "finder" might even be questioned. We offer good quality finderscopes of various types for your telescope - straight view finderscopes, angled view finderscopes and the modern and practical "zero magnification finders". In addition we offer finder brackets for these and other finders. |

TS 8x50 Finderscope - 90 Degree Angled View - Erect Image - incl. Finder Bracket

|
|
8x50 Finderscope with 90 Degree Angled View - Very Good Image Quality Our TS finderscope has a proper doublet achromatic objective for a clear and sharp image. Properly focused pinpoint stars won't escape your attention and you will be able to tell apart diffuse nebulae from stars - an enormous advantage and one of the most common problems in cheap finderscopes.

6x30 and 8x50 Finderscopes with Finder Brackets
Low-budget, good quality finderscopes. Much better than most of the cheap finderscopes that come with entry-level telescopes.

6x30 Finderscope with Finder Bracket
Compared with the standard, cheap 5x24 finderscopes this unit is an enormously helpful upgrade. You will see much more in this finderscope - its multi-coated doublet objective has a good image quality. Unlike most cheap 5x24 finders this 6x30 is not stopped down immediately behind the objective lenses.

![]() 8x50 finderscope with finder bracket |
8x50 Finderscope with Finder Bracket The bigger sibling of the 6x30 finderscope. Like the 6x30 this unit has an achromatic objective, but the 8x50 has a larger aperture (lens diameter). It gathers more light and shows you fainter stars and objects. Advice: When using this finderscope under particularly dark skies (e.g. in the mountains) you will lose orientation due to the myriads of stars you see in the finder. In this case you should stop down the finder to approx. 30mm free aperture.

![]() Finder shoe for various telescopes |
Attaching the Finderscope to Various Telescopes: Many telescopes have a quick release base (finder shoe) that is compatible with the finder brackets of the 6x30 and 8x50 finders. Most telescopes of the following brands have this feature: Vixen, GSO, Helios, Konus, Orion. But not every telescope is equipped with a quick release base for finderscopes. For these telescopes we offer the finder shoe separately. The finder shoe is the counterpart of the finder bracket. Just attach the finder shoe to your telescope and enjoy the advantages of a quick release base.

Quick Release Halterungen von Baader
|
Universal Finder Bracket The Baader Quick Release is a premium quality, CNC machined finder bracket for demanding customers. Not only its mechanical excellence (alignment of the finderscope is precisely held even during bumpy transport), but also its nice design make this a prime choice for anyone looking for a finder bracket for their high-end telescope. The base of the quick release remains attached to the tube permanently. It is directly compatible for all Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes (SCT). Also, any tube from 100mm to 400mm diameter accepts the base easily, in most cases you will not need to drill any holes into the tube. One such base is always included with each Quick Release. If you want to use the quick release on different telescopes we also offer the base separately. The Quick Release is offered in two different sizes: - The Quick Release 1 has an inside diameter of 62mm and is therefore particularly suited for standard 50mm finderscopes. - The Quick Release 2 has an inside diameter of 72mm for larger finderscopes. The thumbscrews are made of plastic in order to prevent scratches on the finders. Mechanical stability is not compromised.

Telrad und Zubehör
![]() |
Telrad Finder The classical zero-magnification LED finder. The Telrad is particularly popular for use with Dobsonian telescopes. When looking through the Telrad you will see three red rings superimposed on the actual sky. You can still see the stars as with your unaided eyes, but the rings will tell you precisely where your telescope is pointed at. We recommend the Telrad especially in combination with a good optical finderscope (e.g. 8x50). Faint objects are more easily identified with the optical finderscope, the Telrad will effectively prevent you from losing orientation. The Telrad base is usually attached to the tube by means of a double sided duct tape (included). You can also attach it with two screws, but you will then need to drill two holes into the telescope tube. For easier transport the Telrad can be removed from the base within seconds.

| 90 Degree Angled View Mirror for Telrad If you search for an object and don't find it immediately there is some undeniable strain to your neck and your back, as is the case with any straight-vision finderscope. We have a solution for this problem: The new Teltau 90 is a dewshield with integrated mirror. It allows you to look through the Telrad at an angle.

Rigel Quickfinder
![]() |
Rigel Quick Finder A more compact and slightly cheaper alternative to the classical Telrad LED finder. The Rigel offers two adjustable brightness rings instead of three. The smaller of the rings equals the approximate field of view of a 8x50 finderscope. The Rigel is particularly suited for compact and lightweight telescopes. The base needs only about 6 x 6cm. For lowest possible weight the Rigel's body is made of plastic. Mechanical stability is not compromised. Alignment is achieved by three setting thumbscrews. The projected rings are finely adjustable in brightness and offer a practical blinking function - a great bonus that makes identifying faint stars much easier. Due to its intelligent design the Rigel is much less susceptible to dew. The base of the Rigel remains on the telescope permanently. The Rigel itself can be removed with the push of a button.. A second base plate is always included for use of the Rigel with a second telescope.

RDA Multi-Dot Sight / Finderscope
more than just a simple red dot finder
![]() |
The TS RDA Multi-Dot Finder / Sight is more than just a simple red dot finder. You will see this at the first moment you hold it in your hands: It is made of metal (not plastic) and fits into most common finderscope bases (Vixen, Celestron, Skywatcher, ...) For other telescopes we offer the optional finder quick release base separately. The RDA is a perfect supplement to classical finderscopes, or a stand-alone finderscope in its own right. The optics are coated for improved transmission (see left image). For transport a rubber cover protects the glass plate from damages or dirt. Suited for Astronomy, Birdwatching and Target Shooting. The RDA is suitable for daytime use, twilight use and also for operation during the night. The reticle can be adjusted in brightness in seven increments for practically any application. Properties and Specifications: |

Four Different Reticles You can switch between four different reticles, ranging from a simple dot to a circle with crosshair. Switching the reticles takes only a second. |

The Multi-Dot Finder is also available without a base - RDS

Red Dot Finders All red dot finders share the same principle. A small dot is projected onto the glass of the finder. When you look through the finder this dot is superimposed on the actual sky and will thus show you exactly where the telescope is pointing. All of these red dot finders use LED's. There are no Lasers involved - no danger to your eyes. Starpointer: A nice, low-budget red dot finder. It has a quick exchange coupling compatible with many telescopes: Vixen, Celestron, Helios, Konus, Orion, ... Not compatible with GSO unless you modify the base slightly or buy a separate finder shoe. Baader Sky Surfer III: Very similar to the Starpointer, but a few nice touches set this red dot finder apart. With its longer dewcap it is not as susceptible to dew. A better coating on the glass allows you to see more stars through the Sky Surfer than through simpler red dot finders. The Sky Surfer III comes with several different bases for nearly any telescope. Baader Sky Surfer V: A much more elaborate device that shares only the basic principle with other red dot finders. The Sky Surfer V is based on a military riflescope that is offered at twice the price with (at least for astronomical purposes) inferior properties. The Sky Surfer V was optimised for the needs of amateur astronomers. Features of the Sky Surfer V: - better coating for better light transmission - long dewcaps on both sides - metal design In addition the Sky Surfer V simply looks nice - it will attract much attention with its silver metal look.
