Focusers |
| A focuser is one of the most important parts of any telescope. With a bad focuser no telescope (no matter how good its optics) will be able to show sharp images. Focusing must be very smooth. The focusers must not shift much (regular use) or not at all (photographical use), else the performance of the telescope as a whole is compromised. |

High Quality Crayford Focusers for Refractors
This focuser offers a very smooth focus motion and zero image shift due to the Crayford design with roller bearings. It fits many different telescopes, for example Celestron, Skywatcher, Helios, GSO, ... 80mm and 90mm refractors.
Of course the focuser is also ideally suited for ATM purposes. Specifications and Dimensions: - 86mm flange diameter (fits tube inside diameters of 86mm). The focuser is fixed to the telescope with three M4 threads that sit radially in this flange. - 72mm focus travel - length from end of telescope tube to end of 2" clamp with focuser fully retracted: 92mm (10mm more with 1.25" adaptor installed) - length from end of telescope tube to end of 2" clamp with focuser fully extended: 164mm (10mm more with 1.25" adaptor installed) - Weight: 720g with 1.25" adaptor (small variance allowing for the 1:10 microfocuser) - brass compression clamp for 2" and 1.25" accessories Two Variants:
We offer two variants of this focuser.
The standard variant already offers a very smooth focus motion and zero image shift. The deluxe version has a dual speed 1:10 microfocusing knob installed on one side for even smoother focus motion. It is particularly recommended for photographical applications and for additional observing comfort for visual use.

2" Crayford Focuser For Synta Refractors
(Sold. A new model will be introduced soon.)

|
Crayford Focuser with 360 degree rotation system, 1.25" reducer with brass compression ring. Incl. finder bracket for standard 8x50 finderscopes |
This focuser was specifically made for all Synta refractors with an aperture of 100mm or more. Refractors of this make are sold under various brands: Celestron, Helios, Konus, Sky-Watcher, Orion. No modifications are needed in order to attach this focuser, it will fit onto your telescope directly. The great advantage: A Crayford focuser like this can by design principle not have any play, there will be no image shift.
|
![]() Easy adaptation to Synta refractors: Just remove the three screws that fix the original focuser to the tube. The SynFoc will fit into the same adaptor using the same screws. Exchanging the focusers thus takes only a minute. |

TS 2" Crayford Focuser for Newtonian Telescopes

| The TS Crayford focuser for Newtonian telescopes was designed to offer many improvements over other existing, similar looking focusers. Advantages of the Crayford Design: - ultra-smooth - finely adjustable - absolutely zero image shift Improvements of our TS Crayford focuser over similar focusers: - more focus travel - 40mm instead of under 30mm. This alone solves many focus problems - friction adjustment is achieved with a thumbscrew, not a slug screw that can only be operated with tools. Specifications:

Our Practice-Proven Newtonian Crayford Focuser - Now With Dual Speed 1:10 Microfocuser! The focuser is the most "visible" part of any telescope with the exception of the optics themselves. You touch the focuser all the time, the focuser is responsible for holding your eyepieces or camera in position and moving them precisely into focus in the first place. Price:

2" Low Profile Crayford Focuser for Newtonians
With 1:10 dual speed microfocuser - only 50mm height

| The TS Crayford focuser for Newtonian telescopes was designed to offer many improvements over other existing, similar looking focusers. Advantages of the Crayford Design: - ultra-smooth - finely adjustable - absolutely zero image shift Add to this additional features such as the low profile, 1:10 microfocuser, a brass compression ring etc. This focuser is the ideal solution if you have focusing problems with your existing high profile focuser! |

Applications: The main field of use is of course astro-imaging. Here a very smooth, high precision focuser is essential for the overall success of your astrophotographical efforts. The focuser is also suitable if you want to build a telescope with the smallest possible secondary mirror diameter. And thirdly, the focuser will often solve focusing problems with standard Newtonians that frequently don't have enough intrafocal focus travel. How To Use It: There are two thumbscrews to adjust the focuser: - the thumbscrew nearer the eyepiece or camera adjusts the tension of the focuser. - the thumbscrew nearer the telescope tube is the locking screw. Once engaged the focusing wheels can be turned loosely without moving the focuser drawtube. Scope of Delivery: - standard adaptor plate (see specifications) - 1:10 dual speed microfocuser - 2" on 1.25" adaptor with brass compression ring and 2" filter thread |

Schmidt Cassegrain Crayford Focuser 1:10
Image: SCT focuser with 1:10 microfocuser
| Schmidt Cassegrain Focuser 2" with 1.25" Adaptor Many users consider the primary mirror focusing mechanism of Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescopes cumbersome to use. There is some amount of image shift and focus cannot be found easily. This is inconvenient for visual use and a serious problem for astrophotography. Our SCT focuser solves this problem. With its Crayford focuser design it has practically zero image shift and a very smooth focus motion. Both 2" and 1.25" accessories are clamped with a brass compression ring to avoid scratches. Minimum length of the focuser is approximately 85mm, focus range is about 40mm (more than in conventional SCT focusers). 1:10 Microfocuser: The Schmidt-Cassegrain focuser has dual-speed knobs. With the coarse adjustment you obtain a quick movement of the focuser. With the microfocusing knob you can effect extremely small movements for optimal focusing precision.
|

| Today many telescopes have good quality Crayford focusers. These focusers offer a very smooth focus motion, but they require the user to touch the telescope when focusing. This can induce strong vibrations that will make focusing much more difficult. In particular for photography you need the best possible focusing precision. The TS Motorfocuser can be attached to a large number of today's Crayford style focusers. See the list below! It allows you to control the focuser through a hand controller without actually touching the telescope. TS Motorfocuser Features: You can change the setting of the motorfocuser freely. You can change both the frequency and the size of the steps. In the fastest setting the focuser needs only 1.1 seconds for a complete turn of the focuser spindle. In the slowest setting you can reach a focusing precisioin of about 1/60 millimeter. Settings: - ON/OFF switch - two direction buttons (in and out) - knob for adjustment of the step size (from microstep to up to 2° per step) - knob for adjustment of the step rate |
|
|
| Compatible Focusers: The TS Motorfocuser is compatible with a large number of today's Crayford focusers. One of the most important details is the diameter of the focusing spindle. This spindle should have 4.0mm diameter. Some focusers (e.g. GSO and TS models) have 4.2mm diameter. For these focusers we need to slightly modify the motorfocuser, so please check the diameter of your focuser's spindle before ordering!
|
The Motorfocuser can also be used on many focusers with 1:10 microfocuser. The adaptation is a little bit more complicated and the microfocusing knob must be removed for this. This is not difficult and is of course no disadvantage because the manual focus motion is no longer possible anyway! |
|
|
| How to Attach the TS Motorfocuser: The adaptation takes only about five minutes and requires no special skills. Allen wrenches needed for the adaptation are supplied with the TS Motorfocuser. When the Motorfocuser is attached you can no longer manually move the focuser! Scope of Delivery: The TS Motorfocuser comes with a complete mounting kit and a manual. It consists of the motor itself with gears and of the hand controller. The controller is driven with three AA batteries (included). The cable is about 80cm long. |
