Monochrome FireWire or USB Astronomical Camera with 60 frames per second for astro-imaging
Telescope Adaptors:
Up to 60 Frames per SecondThe monochrome camera DMK 21 has an ultra-fast 60 frames per second, making it one of the fastest cameras of its kind. This makes the camera ideally suited for monochrome astro-imaging with a very high frame-rate, e.g. for planetary or lunar imaging. The included software IC Capture.AS saves the stream free of comprimation losses as AVI file. Sony® Monochrome CCDThe Astro-CCD camera DMK 21 uses the Sony monochrome Progressive Scan CCD ICX098BL. With a diagonal of 1/4" it offers a resolution of 640 x 480 Pixels. Even at long exposure times the noise level is very low. Due to its high quality the ICX098BL is frequently used for industrial applications. No Compression, No FilteringThe DMK 21 CCD camera uses neither data compression nor an IR cut filter, colour filter or any kind of electronical filtering. This allows for maximum sensitivity and very "original" photos of the skies. Fast Data-Transfer Through FireWire or USB 2.0The astronomical camera DMK 21 produces non-compressed monochromatic frames at a very high rate. In order to transfer this data stream without losses the camera needs a very fast interface. There are two options: FireWire (IEEE 1394) or USB 2.0 Included Software for Windows®The camera comes with the driver IC WDM DCAM TIS and the operating software IC Capture.AS. Detailed information on this can be found below under Software. |

High Resolution: 1280 x 960 PixelsThe monochrome camera DMK 41 is particularly suited for high resolution astro-imaging. Despite the very high resolution the camera still offers a frame rate of up to 15 frames per second. The included software IC Capture.AS saves the stream free of comprimation losses as AVI file. Sony® Monochrome CCDThe Astro-CCD camera DMK 41 uses the Sony monochrome Progressive Scan CCD ICX205AL. With a diagonal of 1/2" it offers a resolution of 1280 x 960 Pixels. Even at long exposure times the noise level is very low. Due to its high quality the ICX205AL is frequently used for industrial applications. No Compression, No FilteringThe DMK 41 CCD camera uses neither data compression nor an IR cut filter, colour filter or any kind of electronical filtering. Up to 60 Frames per SecondThe colour camera DFK 21 has an ultra-fast 60 frames per second, making it one of the fastest cameras of its kind. This makes the camera ideally suited for colour astro-imaging with a very high frame-rate, e.g. for planetary or lunar imaging. The included software IC Capture.AS saves the stream free of comprimation losses as AVI file. Fast Colour ImagingIC Capture.AS performs the colour interpolation from the RAW stream coming from the camera. The workload is thus done by your computer, taking the load off the camera's processor for maximum imaging speed. In case the PC is overloaded it is possible to give the task of colour interpolation back to the camera's processor. In this case the maximum frame rate is a still very good 30 fps. Of course you can also leave the colour interpolation entirely and save the AVI files with RAW images. Sony® Colour CCDThe Astro-CCD camera DFK 21 uses the state of the art Sony colour CCD ICX098BQ (progressive scan). With a diagonal of 1/4" it offers a resolution of 640 x 480 Pixels. Even at long exposure times the noise level is very low. Due to its high quality the ICX098BQ is frequently used for industrial or scientific applications. IR Cut FilterThe DFK 21 CCD camera comes equipped with a IR cut filter that cuts off wavelengths beyond 700nm. This results in a colour image very similar to that seen by the human eye. Fast Data-Transfer Through FireWire or USB 2.0The astronomical camera DFK 21 produces non-compressed monochromatic frames at a very high rate. In order to transfer this data stream without losses the camera needs a very fast interface. There are two options: FireWire (IEEE 1394) or USB 2.0 Included Software for Windows®The camera comes with the driver IC WDM DCAM TIS and the operating software IC Capture.AS. Despite the very high resolution the camera still offers a frame rate of up to 15 frames per second. The included software IC Capture.AS saves the stream free of comprimation losses as AVI file. Each astronomical CCD camera from Imaging Source contains a driver sofware as well as the operating program IC Capture.AS. Both softwares are made for Windows 2000 and XP.
IC WDM DCAM TIS - Driver for FireWire Astronomical CamerasThe driver IC WDM DCAM TIS is used to operate the Imaging Source astronomical cameras under Windows® 2000 and Windows® XP. With this driver the cameras are DirectX compatible. This allows you to use the cameras with any DirectX compatible astro-imaging software. |
Software Requirements
IC Capture.AS - Operating SoftwareIC Capture.AS was developed by The Imaging Source specifically for their astronomical cameras. The software is included with each astronomical camera. IC Capture.AS allows you to:
Please keep in mind that the system should have the same standard as a DTP or video computer (fast processor, separate fast hard drive for storing data) especially when recording fast sequences of frames. Recording AVI FilesWith IC Capture.AS you can download and save the stream of frames coming from the camera directly as an AVI file. There are two different ways to do this:
Compatible Softwares:RegiStax (Windows®)
Astro IIDC (Mac OS)
| Power Supply: When using the camera with a 6/6 pin FireWire cable (see below) on your computer you do not require a separate power supply. When using a laptop PC you instead need an external power supply. In this case you require the 6/4 pin cable (see below) and one of the two following power supplies that are connected to the Cinch jack on the FireWire cable.
