Our excellent TS Superplossls

Our new TS Super Plossls are fully multi-coated and have a rubber eyeguard to keep stray light out of your eyes. Best possible contrast in this price range!

Protective Cases For Eyepieces and Barlow Lenses

TS Super Plossl

TS Super Plossls offer the maximum possible performance with this optical design. They are a special recommendation for beginners but might well turn out to be all the eyepieces you will ever need.

These are important features of our Plossls:

Fully multi-coated for excellent contrast and transmission

High quality lenses for best-possible sharpness all over the field of view
Rubber eyecup
- keeps out stray light and protects your eyeglasses

Rubber grips
Comfortable eye relief at all but the shortest focal lengths
Excellent value for money - we get these eyepieces directly from the manufacturer, without an intermediary; therefore we can offer very low prices.

Transmission
As many reviews show the TS Super Plossls do not only offer a great contrast, but also a near-perfect light throughput. This means that more light actually reaches your eyes instead of being swallowed (or even worse: scattered around) in the eyepiece. Image brightness, along with contrast, is the key to the observation of faint nebulae and galaxies.

Our particularly low prices for these eyepieces do NOT mean that they are of inferior quality compared with other Super Plossl eyepieces. On the contrary, we are very proud of the excellent quality and performance of our Super Plossls!

1,25" TS-WA Eyepieces with Comfortable Eye Relief and a Large Field of View

TSWA125.jpg (21983 Byte)
TS WA eyepieces

TSWA5-25.jpg (20164 Byte)

TS WA 25mm
The TS WA 5.7mm that is depicted is no longer available.

TS WA Eyepieces 1,25" - 67° Field of View - Comfortable Eye Relief

If you just feel a little "boxed-in" by the narrower fields of view of simpler eyepieces you might consider the TS WA series. 67° apparent field of view is a whole lot different to the 50° or less offered in cheaper eyepieces.

This larger field of view is attained through an additional optical element in the eyepiece design. This is crucial for sharp, pinpoint stars to the edge of the field of view.

Down to 10mm the TS WA eyepieces do not utilize a Barlow element like many other wide angle eyepieces. This means slightly tighter eye relief, but brings along much "easier" and more relaxed viewing. You don't have to keep your head in one precise position to avoid black-outs or kidney-beaning.

This also means that you can use a Barlow lens to enhance magnification. You should never "stack" Barlows, so using other wide angle eyepieces with Barlow lenses results in degrading image quality.

The TS WA eyepieces are also well suited for "fast" Newtonians down to a focal ratio of f/5. They have excellent contrast which makes them interesting for planetary observers. Obviously the TS WA perform just as well at longer focal ratios

All lenses are fully multi-coated. This results in very good contrast and transmission. Due to that the eyepieces perform well in all field of visual or photographical astronomy.

1,25" TS-SWM Wide Angle Eyepieces - Fully Multi-Coated - Blackened Lens Edges

TSWA125.jpg (21983 Byte)

TS SWM eyepieces 20mm , 15mm , 9mm, 6mm

TSWA5-25.jpg (20164 Byte)

A short comparison between the old "Gold-Rimmed" eyepieces (left) and the new TS SWM (right). Both eyepieces are the 20mm version.
Note the much darker reflections in the TS SWM and the lack of the bright white "crescent" reflection caused by not blackened lens edges in the Ultrawide.

TS SWM 6 and TS SWM 9 have a fixed Barlow element in their design - that way you still have a comfortable eye relief, even down to 6mm focal length.

We do not recommend the use of an external Barlow lens in combination with these eyepieces.
TS SWM Eyepieces - 66° Field of View - Fully Multi-Coated - Blackened Lens Edges

These excellent new series of eyepieces has little in common with its predecessors (TS SW) and other, similar looking eyepieces. We put all our know-how and experience into the development of these eyepieces. The result is the ultimate low-cost, high performance wide angle eyepiece.

Our advanced version of the venerable wide angle eyepieces are built to Telescope-Service's specifications and sold by Telescope-Service and our partners exclusively.

The new TS SWM are powerful all-purpose eyepieces for all fields of amateur astronomy.

Lunar and Planetary Observations
Our TS SWM Series features an excellent contrast due to the blackened lens edges. As a result you will be able to discern tiny details that would go unnoticed in many other eyepiece designs. Another big advantage over simpler eyepiece designs is the TS SWM's comfortable eye relief down to the high-power 6mm focal length.
Deep Sky Observations
Any eyepiece loses light on each lens surface due to reflections. In simple wide angle eyepieces this would normally result in dim and somewhat 'boring' images. Our TS SWM eyepieces are fully multi-coated: A multicoating on each lens surface effectively prevents reflections and thus maximises light transmission. Images will be surprisingly bright, you will therefore see additional details especially in dim objects like nebulae and galaxies.

At the same time the large field of view helps in discerning extended structures within those nebulae and galaxies. Just compare a bright open cluster somewhere within our milky-way: It's just more beautiful in a wide angle eyepiece!
Astro-Imaging
Our TS SWM series eyepieces are ideally suited for eyepiece projection. You will soon value their great contrast and image brightness. The TS SWM are warmly recommended for digital imaging.

Digital Imaging

The TS SWM eyepieces are ideally suited for digital imaging. Their large eye lens brings along a large illuminated field.

We developed a very short T2 adaptor for these eyepieces. Just remove the rubber eyeguards and attach the Fotoring instead.

In addition we offer digital adaptor rings for most common digital cameras. Just send an e-mail with your camera's filter thread and we will find the ideal combination for you.

Fotoring 1 - turn your eyepiece into a projection lens
Specifications:

Fully Multi-Coated (multi-coated on all lens surfaces)
for best-possible light transmission

Blackened Lens Edges
reduce internal reflections and thus enhance visibility of low-contrast details

Comfortable Eye-Relief / Large Eye Lens
The TS SWM eyepieces are suited for eyeglass-wearers.

Rubber Eyeguard
keeps stray light out of your eyes to further enhance contrast. The eyeguard will also hold your eyes precisely in the ideal position for ease of viewing.

Suited for nearly All Telescopes
The TS SWM are well corrected. They can be used with Newtonian telescopes down to f/4.5 focal ratio. The 20mm version should be used on telescopes of f/5 or longer.

TS Zoom Eyepiece 7-21

TSZoomNew.jpg (30986 Byte)

TS Zoom 7mm to 21mm Focal Length

Zoom eyepieces have undeniable advantages compared to fixed focal length eyepieces. In some cases, one single zoom eyepiece might replace a large collection of conventional eyepieces - you might possibly not need any other ocular at all!

You can always choose the highest magnification possible at any given moment, allowing for different seeing conditions, cool-down of your telescope and whatever other factors might influence the maximum useful magnification.

With the TS Zoom eyepiece 7-21mm you have good, contrasty and above all comfortable views, be it at 7mm or at 21. You can without hesitation use this eyepiece for terrestrial observations, zooming right in to the bird, mountain or ship you are watching. Try this eyepiece out at the moon and the planets!

At 7mm the apparent field of view is a respectable 54°. Even at the lowest magnification you will still have some 40° apparent field of view.

Please accept one final warning: Zoom eyepieces can by default not reach the same high performance than fixed focal length eyepieces do. In direct comparison you will always notice slightly more details in a good quality Plossl than in any zoom ocular. Still, in many cases the comfort and ease of use of a zoom are just more important than the last bit of detail - this is where the TS zoom excels. "High-end" planetary observers should better buy fixed focal length eyepieces - for ultimate contrast we recommend good Plossls (like our TS Superplossls) or Orthos.

Planetary HR Eyepieces - High End Eyepieces for Planetary Observing

High Resolution, Long Eye Relief, Wide Angle Planetary Eyepieces

The Planetary HR eyepiece have an adjustable eyeguard. Each user can choose the perfect setting for himself easily.

Each HR eyepiece comes with dustcaps on both sides and with a strong cardboard box for storage.

Planetary HR eyepieces were made for best possible image sharpness particularly for observing planets. Contrary to other planetary eyepieces such as Orthoscopics they have a much longer eye relief and a larger field of view. Planetary HR eyepieces not only feature superb image sharpness, but also a very high viewing comfort!

Here are some of the eyepieces' great features:

Viewing Comfort The Planetary HR eyepieces offer not only superb image quality (see below), but also excellent viewing comfort. Eye relief is much longer than in Orthoscopic eyepieces of similar focal length. The eyepieces are suitable for eyeglass wearers.

The extendable rubber eyeguard offers individually perfect ergonomics for every observer.
Optical Layout Six elements offer a long eye relief, a large and well corrected field of view, and above all superb image sharpness throughout the field of view.
Excellent Image Sharpness On-axis image sharpness is practically perfect, like a really good Orthoscopic eyepiece. Sharpness throughout the field of view remains without visible deterioration. As a result the eyepieces are considered by many to be even superior to Orthoscopics!
Full Broadband Multi-Coating Planetary HR eyepieces have a broadband multi-coating on all glass-to-air surfaces. They have an excellent transmission and contrast. Ghost images and internal reflections are effectively suppressed.
No Kidney-Beaning Cheap eyepieces and too extreme wide angle eyepieces often suffer from "Kidney-Beaning". When you move the head only slightly a black, kidney-shaped shadow will cover a part of the field of view.

This effect is nearly eliminated in the Planetary HR eyepieces.
Suitable for Use in Binocular Viewers Planetary HR eyepieces are very well suited for binocular viewing. You will have no trouble looking through both eyepieces at the same time without getting into a conflict with your nose. The adjustable eyeguard offers a perfect observing position for critical binocular viewing.

Photography:
Planetary HR eyepieces are perfect for photography. Other than many wide angle eyepieces they show practically no distortions.

There are two general modes of photography, with compact digital cameras or with SLR or DSLR cameras. We offer adaptors for most common cameras.

Vignetting is eliminated or minimized by the large lens diameter of the Planetary HR eyepieces. With SLR and DSLR cameras vignetting can be avoided entirely.
A digital camera can be attached to the Planetary HR eyepiece using our HR-T2 adaptor. Many cameras need follow-up adaptors. We also offer these follow-up adaptors for most digital cameras.
In a similar fashion you can also attach an SLR or DSLR camera. The eyepieces show only a minimal amount of distortion, so they are perfectly suited for projection photography. You need: Fotoring T2 -> T2 extension tube 40mm -> T-ring for your camera.

Follow-Up Adaptations:
SLR and DSLR Cameras
For most cameras we offer standardized T-rings that can be used for the adaptation. The T-ring goes into the camera's bayonet or thread.
Compact Digital Cameras
For many cameras we have adaptor tubes that go around the camera's objective lens tube and have a thread at the front. This thread can be used for the adaptation.
Other Cameras:
If your camera doesn't fall into any of the other two categories we often are still able to help. Just let us know which camera you have and we'll suggest a suitable adaptation!

2" Eyepieces

2" eyepieces (barrel diameter 50.8mm = 2") are useful at long focal lengths and large fields of view. Whether an eyepiece has to be a 2" design depends on the diameter of the field stop - if it doesn't fit into a 1.25" barrel a 2" barrel is chosen instead.

To put it in simple words: The larger the diameter, the larger the attainable true field of view on the sky. This means that a 2" eyepiece can show larger areas of the sky than a 1.25" eyepiece.

2" TS Reversed Kellner (RK) Eyepieces

These eyepieces feature a modified three-lens design that will offer excellent results. Especially light transmission is better than possible in any more complicated eyepiece design. Contrary to classical Kellners field sharpness is much better, you can use the eyepieces on relatively short focal ratio telescopes (f/5 is okay, f/6 is good, f/8 is recommended without reservations). The value for money is excellent.

Astro-2.jpg (14354 Byte)

RK 26mm RK 32mm RK 40mm
What are RK or RKE eyepieces?
These eyepieces are a modified and advanced version of the classical Kellner design. Compared with classical Kellners field correction is much superior. The RK design also allows for larger fields of view. At the same time the major advantage of the Kellner design - best possible light transmission - is retained.

We recommend the RK eyepieces as a low-budget entry into the world of 2" eyepieces or if you need to get as much light out of your telescope as possible.

A first look at M-31 (the Andromeda Galaxy) with the GSO Dobsonian 200/1200mm and the TS RK 40mm

"The Andromeda Galaxy was easier to see than ever before. Previously I had only used good Plossl eyepieces, but the image was much brighter and clearer. Even a direct comparison with my Super Plossl 40mm from the United States showed the much brighter image of the TS RK 40mm. Also the field of view is much bigger, over 25%.

In the future, the TS RK 40mm will be my favourite Deep Sky eyepiece."
(Martin Zechner - Emberger Alm - 2002)

Protective Cases For Eyepieces and Barlow Lenses
2" TS RK Eyepieces with Superior Field Correction

The first impression of these eyepieces is that of good quality craftmanship. The all metal body and rubber grips speak for themselves. But not only mechanical quality is much better than in some other eyepieces of this price range.

Every optical surface is multicoated (Full Multi-Coating), also the inside of the eyepieces is properly blackened to reduce internal reflections and maximise contrast and transmission.

Use:
Our TS RK eyepieces are excellent deep sky eyepieces, especially on long focal ratio telescopes like refractors, Schmidt-Cassegrains or Maksutov-Cassegrains. Here the TS RK, due to their design inherent transmission, may even beat more expensive eyepieces in performance.

On shorter focal ratio telescopes like Newtonians (typically around f/5) the TS RK eyepieces will still offer a respectable performance, but stars near the edge will no longer appear as small pinpoints - these are the limits of the three-lens RK design. On even faster telescopes use of the TS RK is not recommended.

Transmission
Due to their carefully chosen lens substrates and especially due to their excellent Full Multi-Coating the TS RK eyepieces have a light transmission close to the theoretical limit. This is especially important when observing faint nebulae and galaxies.

A More Detailed Look at the TS RK Eyepieces:
Each TS RK eyepiece features a very soft rubber eyecup that will effectively prevent stray light from reaching your eyes. The very comfortable eye relief (18mm - TS RK 26 / 30mm - TS RK 40) makes our TS RK eyepieces fully suitable for eyeglass wearers. You will find these eyepieces very comfortable to use, only the 40mm requires some practise due to the very large eye lens.

Digital Imaging with the TS RK Eyepieces:
We have developed a short T2 ring for the 2" TS RK eyepieces. In addition we offer adaptors for nearly all common digital cameras. Just send us an e-mail with the type of your camera (if possible please include which filter thread the camera has), then we will offer the fitting adaptors.

TS-WA Eyepieces (26mm, 30mm, 32mm, 38mm, 42mm, 50mm)

TSWA2z.jpg (39542 Byte)

WA50.jpg (10463 Byte)

You will best be able to check the transmission of the TS WA eyepieces by holding it in front of a flat white surface. You will be able to see any discolouration or light absorption immediately.

When you look at the image above you can see that when looking through our TS WA eyepieces the background remains bright and properly white to a large degree.

A Short Comparison

Shorter Focal Lengths:
1.25" TS WA Eyepieces
.
Our TS WA eyepieces are known for their particularly good image quality at a bargain price. They feature a modern optical design that allows you to use them on "fast" telescopes - telescopes with a short focal ratio - with respectable field sharpness.

With their excellent full multi-coating the eyepieces offer very bright images. Not least due to their good mechanical and optical qualities they may well be compared with much more expensive eyepieces.

Nice to look at, these eyepieces will define a new meaning of comfortable viewing. The long eye relief makes them fully suited for eyeglass wearers.

Every optical surface is fully multi-coated!
This modern, high-performance coating - along with the proper optical glass substrates of the five lenses - guarantees bright and clear images with an excellent transmission (see the image to the left). You will not waste any of the precious light your telescope has collected - the TS WA eyepieces are true Deep-Sky specialists.

The TS WA eyepieces' body is properly blackened inside.

A Simple Test: Put the eyepieces on a black surface and provide proper illumination (daylight). Then check the reflections on the eye-lens; you will immediately see how much contrast the eyepiece can provide.

We did this test and compared our TS WA with two other eyepieces (TeleVue Panoptik and Wild 30 - both are well-known Deep Sky eyepieces). See for yourself how well our TS WA passed the test.

The new TS WA 26mm
The new TS WA 38mm.
The excellent dark multi-coating of the TS WA 26 and 38. The multi-coating is second not even to some of the most expensive eyepieces.

Coating fully multicoated for best possible contrast and transmission
Mechanical features metal body with rubber grip and soft rubber eyecups against stray light
Image quality crisp and contrasty images without distortion near the edge. Many eyepieces with larger apparent fields of view have quite some noticable distortion towards the edge of the field of view, thus apparently reaching wider fields without changing the actual field of view. TS WA eyepieces do not use this trick.
Usable with: You can use these eyepieces with any telescopes with a focal ratio of f/5 or longer. Please keep in mind that the exit pupil does not get too large with the long focal length TS WA eyepieces, though. (For example, at f/5 you may well use the TS WA 32, but the TS WA 42 and 50 will render a not-quite-useful exit pupil of 8.4mm or 10mm, respectively. The exit pupil should never grow bigger than your own eyes' pupils can, otherwise you will waste light.)

Especially on "fast" telescopes (i.e. on telescopes with a short focal ratio) Barlow lenses are an interesting alternative to short focal length eyepieces. Those eyepieces often have a very tight eye relief and are very uncomfortable to use.

The quality of all Barlow lenses offered here is very good.
