Skylight Filter for Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescopes

The TS Skylight filter is an important accessory for Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes. It serves two purposes:

Firstly, the Skylight filter reduces the negative effects light pollution caused by urbanization. This effect is intentionally small - only the main sources of stray light are filtered out, the majority of the light passes the filter. As a result of this you can leave the filter permanently installed, even when viewing galaxies or star clusters where stronger filters cannot be used.

Most imortantly: The Skylight filter is the ideal dust protection for your Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope! It closes off the rear of the tube, keeping dust out permanently. The filter itself is largely scratch-resistant and therefore easy to clean if the need arises.

Newtonian Laser Collimator

Newtonian telescopes work at their best only if they are properly collimated. With this high quality laser collimator this is a matter of only one or two minutes!

This high quality laser collimator comes at a very low price. Despite this it has all the important quality features:

- metal body
- 45° angled viewport
- large on/off switch (easy to operate even with gloves)
- 1.25" barrel size

If the laser is dropped or otherwise loses its own collimation the LA1 can be collimated itself. To avoid accidental miscollimation the adjustment screws are covered by silicone glue, but once needed the glue can be pulled out and the laser adjusted.

LASER WARNING: This item emits laser radiation. Do not direct the laser beam into anybody's eyes. Eye injury might occur. Keep it away from Children!

 Micrometer Guide Scope Holder

The usual way of mounting a guide scope is through guide scope rings. Unfortunately guide scope rings have several important disadvantages. First of all they require a lot of extra space because you need to be able to operate the screws on all sides of the rings. Most importantly guide scope rings usually move the guide scope at 120° angles - you are still able to move the guide scope in all directions, but not very intuitively!

The Micrometer Guide Scope Holder is the solution for these problems! It strongly holds a guide scope or heavy camera in position and allows for a smooth and intuitive movement in two axes (up-down and left-right). The excenter fully replaces conventional guide scope rings or excenters.

The Micrometer Guide Scope Holder has no play and will not lose alignment.

Fields of Use:

- precisely aligning a guide scope on a guide star. No additional guide scope rings or excenters are needed.
- adapting a heavy camera with tele lens parallel to the main telescope. A precise alignment is possible.

The Limited Edition GSO Dobsonian 200 LX. The primary mirror has zero thermic expansion (like Zerodur).

The image shows only a small 6x30 finderscope - the actual telescopes come equipped with a much more powerful 8x50 finderscope instead!

The GSO Dobsonian line is normally equipped with BK-7 primary mirrors. This mirror substrate is free of internal stress and therefore perfectly suited for Newtonianian optics.

Sometimes Dobsonians are offered with more exotic mirror substrates, such as Pyrex, which sometimes have better thermic properties. This affects the image quality during the first hour or so, while the mirror still cools down to the ambient temperature. Pyrex expands less with higher temperatures, resulting in a smaller deformation during cool-down.

But: Why only take half a step?

GSO made a limited quantity of "Low Expansion" (a.k.a. "Zero Red") mirrors with excellent optics and thermic properties that are one full step ahead even of Pyrex. As the name implies, the mirror suffers from practically zero thermic expansion.

Who is this telescope for?

We want to be honest - once perfectly cooled down you will not notice a difference in image quality between this one, a regular GSO Dobsonian or a telescope with Pyrex primary mirror. But cool-down takes some time, and many observers do not want to wait until they can begin using their telescope for real!

The GSO LX Dobsonian Limited Edition is made for users who want to begin observing immediately.

- the Economy version already has the Low Expansion primary mirror of excellent optical quality. Expensive extras and accessories have been kept out of this offer to make it supremely affordable.

- the Deluxe version comes with lots of extras that further enhance the telescope's performance. A cooling fan eliminates tube currents for even steadier views, the Crayford focuser is ultra-smooth, the azimuth roller bearing makes movement much easier. The special thing about GoTo is that the telescope is equipped with a computer drive that will locate objects automatically - you just need to enter the object number (e.g. M13 for Messier 13, a globular cluster in Hercules) and the telescope will slew to that object's current position. Celestron 80 SLT



The NexStar 80 is a very nice entry-level telescope with GoTo. The image quality is excellent especially for moon and planets, and with an aperture of 80mm dozens of nebulae and galaxies are also within reach.
