TS Spotting Scope 18-54x - 55mm Objective Diameter

TS Spotting Scope 18-54 x 55mm incl. adjustable height Tabletop Tripod

High Performance TS Zoom Spotting Scope 18 - 54 x 55mm with 45° Angled View - incl. Tabletop Tripod

Mechanical and Optical Excellence:
This Spotting Scope is made to very high standards - both the mechanics and the optics leave nothing to be desired. Key features of this Spotting Scope are its beautiful finish, its sharp multi-coated optics and a very good Zoom eyepiece. The Spotting Scope is spraywater-proof and can therefore be used under less-than-perfect meteorological conditions. Its excellent sharp and contrasty optics will show you tiny details, e.g. in the feathers of a bird, where other, simpler spotting scopes will show nothing but a boring blur.

Outdoor Use:
You can use this Spotting Scopes for nearly all purposes imaginable. Hunters, Birdwatchers, Stargazers and many others will enjoy using this Spotting Scope. Its key factor is its compact dimensions and the resulting excellent portability. You can take this Spotting Scope everywhere - on hiking trips or airline-travels.

Features of this TS Spotting Scope:
-- Comfortable 45° Angled View
-- Multi-coated objective for superior light transmission and brighter, clearer images. The multi-coating also enhances contrast.

-- A Zoom eyepiece is included, offering magnifications from 18x to 54x. The eyepiece offers a very good viewing comfort.
-- The TS Spotting Scope has a very precise and smooth focus mechanism.
-- The TS Spotting Scope has a metal body. It is very robust and will not be damaged during slightly bumpy transport.

Fixed Eyepieces for TS Spotting Scopes - for even sharper images
With fixed focal length eyepieces you will get even sharper and more contrasty images as with the Zoom eyepiece. This makes them an interesting choice for observers who want to get the most out of their spotting scopes. The eyepieces were made specifically for these spotting scopes - best possible image definition and an excellent viewing comfort is the result. All eyepieces come safely stored in practical plastic bottles.

Use: Just unscrew the Zoom eyepiece and attach your fixed eyepiece in the same position.

Possible Magnifications:: 25mm ( 15x ) , 19mm ( 20x ) , 15mm ( 25x ) , 9mm ( 42x ) , 6mm ( 63x ) und 5mm
( 76x )

Tabletop Tripod:
A very sturdy and compact tabletop tripod is already included with the spotting scope. You have the following possibilities:
- smooth horizontal 360 degree motion, perfect also at high magnifications
- coarse and fine adjustment in altitude
- the central column of the tripod is adjustable in height (approx. 10cm)
- the tripod has a standardised 1/4" thread, you can mount other items on the tripod (e.g. a camera, another spotting scope, a binocular etc.)

Our Spotting Scope as a Telephoto-Lens:

Our spotting scopes are very versatile and can also be used as a telephoto lens for your camera. For this purpose we offer a camera adaptor with the standardised T2 (M42x0.75) thread. The adaptor works with any fixed eyepiece for our spotting scopes, but not with the Zoom eyepiece.

Depending on the exact camera you will need a further adaptor (T-ring, 20 Euro. Please specify your SLR camera type.) You can also attach your digital camera to the spotting scope, please contact us with details on your camera, we will help you with the choice of the proper adaptors.

For eyepiece projection with a conventional SLR camera we recommend the 25mm fixed eyepiece. With this eyepiece the image will remain very bright, keeping exposure times at a minimum.

Two Variants Available - Achromatic Objective or Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) Apochromatic Objective

Every lens will cause what is known as "false colour" - a purple or yellow coloured fringe around every bright object. This false colour is reduced by the use of two different glass substrates in each objective. Classical glasses allow for an enormous reduction in false colour - such a telescope or spotting scope is called an Achromat. The little remaining false colour does not disturb under normal observing conditions.

For demanding customers we also offer the ED Spotting Scopes. These utilise a special glass substrate (Extra-Low Dispersion glass). False colour is almost completely eliminated. Experienced birdwatchers will welcome this for its enhanced contrast!

Customer Feedback on the ED Variant:
"I have just test the scopes and just what you said: WOW ! The sharpness and contrast is excellent!! Many birders look at my scope and want to look at it. And when they do every one is talking of the sharpness and light. Here is a bird I just take with your 80 mm ED and your special eyepiece and Fotoring and canon A95." - Jan

High-Performance Eyepieces with Deep Focal Plance - 5mm through 25mm
For Increased Contrast and Image Sharpness

Description:

Wide-Angle Eyepieces with Fixed Focal Lengths for Telescope-Service (and other) Spotting Scopes

For our spotting scopes we now also offer eyepieces with fixed focal lengths for superior performance. The eyepieces are made to a very high standard. They have a blackened interior for reduced reflections and no ghost images. Our eyepieces were designed specifically for our spotting scopes with the demanding customer in mind who is looking for the best in performance at a reasonable price. They are very comfortable to use and further increase the performance of your Telescope-Service spotting scope both for serious terrestrial use and for night-sky use.

The lenses are multi-coated for excellent contrast and light transmission. Of course the eyepieces feature an all-metal body. They are securely attached to the spotting scopes with a connecting nut. This will prevent them from falling out by accident.

Properties of the Telescope-Service Eyepieces for Spotting Scopes:
-- Multi-coated lenses => for extra-high contrast and a natural,colour-neutral image
-- Long eye-relief => the eyepieces have an eye-relief of 17mm. This makes them comfortable to use for eyeglass wearers.
-- Rubber eyeguard => effectively prevents stray light from reaching your eyes
-- Large eye lenses - even for shorter focal length eyepieces => excellent observing comfort even for long-term observations.
-- Almost no kidney-beaning - even if you look into the eyepieces slightly off-center you will not immediately see distracting "shadows" that are a common and unfortunate phenomenon on many eyepieces.

Available Focal Lengths and Their Apparent Field of View:
Despite their comfortably long eye-relief our eyepieces for spotting scopes all feature relatively large fields of view for enhanced joy of use. Just compare a comfortable 60 degrees with more simple eyepieces that sometimes only offer 40-45 degrees apparent field of view: You will never want to use such simple eyepieces again.

25mm - 52° 19mm - 56° 9mm - 62° 6mm - 62° 5mm - 60°

Which Spotting Scopes can you use our Fixed Eyepieces on:
Our fixed eyepieces have a connecting nut that will fit the following spotting scopes: TS SP 55 Z (further details) TS SP 80 Z , TS SP 80 EDZ (further details), TS SP 100 Z and TS SP 100 EDZ (further details)

In addition the eyepieces will fit the following spotting scopes of other brands: Celestron Ultima 80, Ultima 80 ED, Ultima 100, Ultima 100 ED.

Two Variants: Normal Objective and ED Objective

The Horizon 80 is available in two variants.

The standard variant comes with a normal achromatic lens. It offers a good image quality and a good correction of false colour. Images are bright and contrasty. Around edges (e.g. a dark object in front of a bright background) a coloured fringe will appear, though, which reduces contrast slightly. For most uses this does not pose any problem and we recommend this version to most users.

For more demanding users we offer the Horizon with ED lens. Through the use of a ED glass element (Extra-low Dispersion) colour correction is significantly reduced. This is a big advantage if you want to discern small details in the feathers of a bird, or for astronomical use.
