TeleVue Plossls are by many regarded the best Plossl eyepieces on the market. Just look at various online reviews! They have an excellent contrast and a superb image sharpness. Multi-Coated Glass-to air surfaces and blackened lens edges result in optimal performance. Planet observers will enjoy the excellent on axis image sharpness that is a match even for orthoscopic eyepieces. All TeleVue Plossls come with a fold-down type rubber eyeguard. A safety undercut prevents them from dropping out of the focuser in a careless moment. Contrary to most simple Plossls TeleVue Plossls were made to offer an excellent field correction and image sharpness even in "fast" telescopes, i.e. telescopes with a short focal ratio such as many Newtonians. A convenient rubber grip rounds off this wonderful package. |

Radian Eyepieces
Radians have a wide field of view of 60°. They combine superb image sharpness, a wide field and a long eye relief and viewing comfort. The click-stop type retractable rubber eyeguard allows each observer to find his or her personal viewing distance. You will be able to observe relaxed for long periods - even eyeglass wearers will see the entire field of view easily. The eyepieces were designed to offer pinpoint stars to the edge even in short focal ratio telescopes (down to f/4!). Eye relief is a constant 20mm, even in the shortest focal lengths. A great difference compared with more simple eyepieces. On axis image sharpness does not suffer from the extra lens elements, the Radians are warmly recommended even to planet observers. The eyepieces are of course fully multi-coated and have blackened lens edges. Rubber grips round off the impressive package. |

Panoptic Eyepieces
TeleVue Panoptic Eyepieces are medium to long focal length wide angle eyepieces with improved viewing comfort and optical performance. They are distant cousins of the older Wide Angles made by TeleVue in the past. They have a large field of view of 68°, by many observers considered the optimal size. 68° are the largest field of view that can be comfortably overseen without straining your eyes. TeleVue Panoptic eyepieces are of course fully multi-coated and have blackened lens edges. Like all TeleVue eyepieces the Panoptics have a safety undercut, a rubber eyeguard and rubber grips. |

Nagler family
Size comparison - the coin on the left represents what you see in a 50° eyepiece. The right coin shows a 82° FOV by comparison.
TeleVue Nagler eyepieces were the first of the extreme wide angle eyepieces used by amateur astronomers. It was this eyepiece line more than any other product which founded the reputation of TeleVue as a whole. The eyepieces were copied many times, but the original was never matched in our opinion. TeleVue Naglers demonstrate what is lovingly called the "space walk effect". 82° field of view is larger than can be consciously caught with the human eye. This means you will not see an end to the star field in front of you! You get the feeling of actually "being there" among the stars. Nagler eyepieces are constantly revised and improved. The most modern glasses are used for best possible performance. The enormous field of view of 82° is nearly free of optical aberrations such as coma, field curvature, ... The eyepieces offer sharp stars to the edge of the field of view even in "fast" Newtonian telescopes (down to f/4!). There are several different Nagler types with slightly different features. Types: Type 6 ... 7 element design, special low-dispersion glasses, high quality coatings - for a particularly good contrast and sharpness. Type 6 Naglers have a constant eye relief of 12mm at all focal lengths. Type 5 ... 6 element design, good contrast and image sharpness. 10mm eye relief. Type 4 ... 6-7 element designs, improved eye relief between 17 and 19mm while retaining the other properties of the predecessors. Naglers have a relatively narrow focal position. They require about 15mm more back-focus than a standard Plossl. In a few telescopes with little back focus (like Newtwonians) adaptation might cause problems. Please inform us if this is the case in your telescope, we will gladly try to find a solution or an alternative! |

13mm ETHOS Eyepiece - 100° Field of View !!!
You love the huge field of view of a Nagler eyepiece? Then try this for a change...!
![]() |
Many years ago TeleVue opened the door to an entirely new experience for amateur astronomers. The Nagler eyepiece line offered an incredible 82° field of view - a feat nobody had even dreamed of until then! Now TeleVue is again opening up an entirely new world: 100° apparent field of view! If you enjoeyed the huge field of a Nagler, then try this for a change! The Ethos eyepiece offers the largest apparent field of view ever available from TeleVue without sacrificing the important features that were always so important in TeleVue's world class eyepieces: -- very good contrast and transmission through an excellent multi-coating, carefully blackened interior and blackened lens edges. -- a comfortable eye relief that makes the eyepiece suitable (with only minor reservations) even for eyeglass wearers. -- excellent sharpness throughout the field of view, even in telescopes with a fast f-ratio. We can gladly recommend this eyepiece for use with any astronomical telescope. The apparent field of view of 100° offers a 50% larger area of the sky compared with the 13mm Nagler with 82°. The "Space Walk Effect" is drastically enhanced even compared with the already excellent Naglers. Looking through the Ethos gives the impression of "floating in space in front of the object". A nice side effect is that the object will remain in the field of view for a longer period in telescopes without tracking motors (e.g. Dobsonians). Specifications: - Apparent field of view 100° - Focal Length 13mm - Field stop diameter: Larger than in the 16mm Nagler Type 5 => The true field of view is also greater, despite the higher magnification - Eye relief 15mm - Barrel size 1.25" and 2" (be careful with 2" star diagonals - the 1.25" barrel might touch the mirror. - Weight approx. 560 grams |

Zoom Eyepieces
Tele Vue has a range of unique Zoom eyepieces. As you surely know zoom eyepieces are generally considered inferior to fixed focal length eyepieces. This is certainly true to some small extent, but TeleVue has created zoom eyepieces that nearly make you believe the contrary. Only in direct comparison might a very experienced observer be able to notice a difference. There are three different TeleVue zoom eyepieces: The Televue 8-24mm click stop zoom has a broad magnification range for standard observations. It has a variable field of view between a decent 40° (at 24mm focal length) and a good 55° (at 8mm). The eyepiece is a click-stop type that will click in position for every integer millimeter focal length. This makes the TeleVue 8-24mm click-stop zoom perfect for binoviewers! The Nagler Zoom eyepieces were made for planetary observing. They have a constant field of view of 50° and also a constant eye relief of 10mm. But the most impressive feature of the Nagler Zooms is their excellent image sharpness. You can find the maximum useful magnification under any given observing conditions and for any given telescope and then enjoy sharpness that comes close to that of an orthoscopic eyepiece. Like the 8-24mm zoom the Nagler zooms have a click-stop mechanism for every integer millimeter focal length. Two Nagler Zooms are available: 2-4mm and 3-6mm. |

Zweilinsige Barlows
Powermates |
Well-made Barlow lenses can be a very powerful tool both visually and photographically. They are particularly helpful for short focal ratio telescopes in order to reach higher magnifications. TeleVue offers different Barlow lines: Normal doublet Barlow lenses (1.25" and 2") of very high quality for telescopes down to f/6. These Barlows offer an excellent contrast and light transmission. The Big Barlow works wth 2" eyepieces without vignetting. The Powermate Barlow line offers extreme factors of magnification and an enhanced field correction. This makes them better suited for short focal ratio telescopes. The Powermate 5x for instance is particularly popular for planetary imaging with webcams. |

Newtonian Coma Corrector
Refractor Field Flatteners
![]() |
Tele Vue offers correctors for Newtonians as well as for refractors. TeleVue correctors have a very good optical quality. The Paracorr - Newtonian Coma Corrector offers a very good correction on Newtonians from f/3.5 to f/8. TeleVue offers both a photographical and a visual variant of the corrector. While you often get coma at the edge of the field without corrector you will have sharp stars throughout the field with the Paracorr. The Field flatteners / Reducers for refractors offer the same in refractors. The field curvature of a refractor means a degradation of the image sharpness towards the edge of the photographical field. The correctors offer a flat field for improved field sharpness. At the same time the flatteners reduce the focal length of the refractor (exception: Ranger Flat). |
